this one is a recent classic and something that i turned to last year when my dad passed away...if you want it, you know where to find it
Peter Gabriel - Father, Son Father, son Locked as one In this empty room Spine against spine Yours against mine Till the warmth comes through Remember the breakwaters down by the waves I first found my courage Knowing daddy could save I could hold back the tide With my dad by my side Dogs, plows and bows We move through each pose Struggling in our separate ways Mantras and hymns Unfolding limbs Looking for release through the pain And the yogi's eyes are open Looking up above He too is dreaming of his daddy's love With his dad by his side Got his dad by his side Can you recall How you took me to school We couldn't talk much at all It's been so many years And now these tears Guess I'm still your child Out on the moors We take a pause See how far we have come You're moving quite slow How far can we go Father and son With my dad by my side With my dad by my side Got my dad by my side With me |

Everything I Own - Bread (David Gates)
You sheltered me from harm. Kept me warm, kept me warm You gave my life to me Set me free, set me free The finest years I ever knew Were all the years I had with you I would give anything I own, Give up me life, my heart, my home. I would give everything I own, Just to have you back again. You taught me how to love, What its of, what its of. You never said too much, But still you showed the way, And I knew from watching you. Nobody else could ever know The part of me that cant let go. I would give anything I own, Give up me life, my heart, my home. I would give everything I own Just to have you back again. Is there someone you know, Youre loving them so, But taking them all for granted. You may lose them one day, Someone takes them away, And they dont hear the words you long to say I would give anything I own, Give up me life, my heart, my home. I would give everything I own Just to have you back again. http://www.justiceforjay.com/depende...%20I%20Own.mp3 Last edited by daddydirt : 10-05-08 at 10:56 AM. |

Cat Stevens - Father
Father oh father Hear me if you can Is it true what they say That life is a dream I don't understand The things that make rain in my eyes Are they real or are they lies ------------------------------------------- Amy Grant - Father Father, blessed father, It's morning again. I give you, father, myself, father, Continue your plan. ------------------------------------------- Yellowcard - Father What's a dad for dad Tell me why I'm here dad Whisper in my ear that I'm growing up to be a better man dad Everything is fine dad Now that you are mine dad Cause I know I'm growing up to be a better man Father I will always be That same boy that stood by the sea And watched you tower over me Now I'm older I wanna be the same as you --------------------------------------------- Marvin Gaye - What's Going On Father, father, we don't need to escalate You see, war is not the answer, for only love can conquer hate You know we've got to find a way --------------------------------------------- Wyclef Jean- Daddy Da, da, da, daddy, daddy, daddy I'm sure y'all heard about my dad Da, da, da, daddy, daddy, daddy This one goes out for everybody that lost somebody Da, da, da, daddy, daddy, daddy Be strong Da, da, da, daddy, daddy, daddy --------------------------------------------- and... last but not least Pink Floyd - When The Tigers Broke Free It was just before dawn One miserable morning in black 'forty four. When the forward commander Was told to sit tight When he asked that his men be withdrawn. And the Generals gave thanks As the other ranks held back The enemy tanks for a while. And the Anzio bridgehead Was held for the price Of a few hundred ordinary lives. And old King George Sent Mother a note When he heard that father was gone. It was, I recall, In the form of a scroll, With gold leaf and all. And I found it one day In a drawer of old photographs, hidden away. And my eyes still grow damp to remember His Majesty signed With his own rubber stamp. It was dark all around. There was frost in the ground When the tigers broke free. And no one survived From the Royal Fusiliers Company C. They were all left behind, Most of them dead, The rest of them dying. And that's how the High Command Took my daddy from me. |

Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast ( Wayne Newton ) The love between the two of us was dying And it got so bad I knew I had to leave But halfway down that highway when I turned around I saw My little daughter running after me Crying Daddy, don't you walk so fast Daddy, don't you walk so fast Daddy, slow down some 'cause you're makin' me run Daddy, don't you walk so fast Now, it broke my heart to tell my little daughter That her daddy had to run to catch a train She had no way of knowin' I was leavin' home for good I turned around and there she was again As she said to me Daddy, don't you walk so fast Daddy, don't you walk so fast Daddy, slow down some 'cause you're makin' me run Daddy, don't you walk so fast If only for the sake of my sweet daughter I just had to turn back home right there and then And try to start a new life with the mother of my child I couldn't bear to hear those words again She cried and said Daddy, don't you walk so fast (My daughter cried) Daddy, don't you walk so fast Daddy, slow down some 'cause you're makin' me run Daddy, don't you walk so fast Daddy, slow down some 'cause you're makin' me run Oh, daddy, don't you walk so fast

I found this nice lyrics finder about a month ago.
http://www.songlyrics.com/advanced_s...ics_search.php you can enter the 'father' or 'daddy' in the bottom of the 4 boxes |

So sorry to hear this
release - pearl jam Father...ooh...oh...oh... I see the world, feel the chill. Which way to go, windowsill? I see the world's on a rocking horse of time. I see the birds in the rain. Ohh...ohh...ohh...ohh... Oh, dear dad, can you see me now. I am myself, like you somehow. I'll ride the wave where it takes me. I'll hold the pain...Release me... Ohh...ohh...ohh...ohh... Oh, dear dad, can you see me now. I am myself, like you somehow. I'll wait up in the dark for you to speak to me. I'll open up...Release me... Release me. (3x) Ohh...ohh...ohh...ohh..
