eMule Now Tied Directly To Usenext
With the official eDonkey client out of the way, eMule can do whatever it pleases.
"With the new eMule client you can search the Usenet. What is the Usenet? Usenet was created 1979 before the internet and consists of more than 60,000 boards for discussions (newsgroups) about every topic under the sun. Opinions and all kinds of datas are exchanged in these boards. Search more than 60.000 Newsgrups and more of 300 Terabytes of data. Over 2,000 Gigabytes of new files and articles are added daily to the usenet. Advantages - Over 300 Terabyte of Data - The usenet is legal, usenet access is 100% anonymous. - Downloads are now possible with up to 100 Mbps The Usenet offers you anonymous, uncensored access to all types of files, datas and discussion boards. Newsgroups are typically accessed with special client software that connects to a news server like the free Usenext client. Enable / Disable usenet search results in eMule You find the option for the Usenet Search under -> Options -> Extended -> Usenet search" http://www.emule-ng.com/en/affiliate Last edited by napho : 13-11-06 at 03:56 AM. |

The point is that UseNext is supposedly a company with dubious practices that at the very best is WAY overpriced Usenet. For it to be integrated directly into eMule like that seems very lame. People have complained about it buying ads on the uTorrent site for example, but now it's right in the emule results with a direct link to you know who. I guess no one cares anymore.

Just to clarify:
Official eMule site at sourceforge.net Download page of the official site To avoid problems, use only the above source to get eMule. This is the genuine open source eMule client, developed actively from 2002 by Merkur and other developers as an alternative to the now-deceased commercial closed-source eDonkey client. It is free, has no spyware, adware or other commercial crap. It is very easy for commercial players to make rip-off versions of open source clients, and this eMule-NG is just one of them. (You can have a look at this list of rogue p2p sites to get an idea of the extent of the problem.)

so do you think it might be a valid way to get newsgroup files like signing up and paying a newsgroup site for so many Gb a month ? I guess its more likely to be some scam..I just thought they might be offering something thats equal in value to doing that

While Usenext is a rogue company, there are a number of subscription news servers that are ok. For comparision and user comments, see this table at Slyck. For example Giganews seems to be popular among hardcore newsgroup users.

I use a mod of eMule but for some strange reason wanted to download the mainstream one to check something. Obviously what I got wasn't the original eMule but I can't remember what site it came from. Not that eMule-NG site though. Those extra search options surprised me.
