Ah, they're not interested in truthiness, just blabbing; not that they'd actually know anything about history. France was in WW1 and 2 and it's very unlikely to be in another so that alone should disqualify anything from being called a world war.

Just another mideast war, ho-hum, what else is new?

Well if you mean what the U.S. calls the Vietnam war the answer is no. If you mean did French colonialism efforts and the reaction to those efforts lay the groundwork for the type of resistance which would later be used as the starting point for the north Vietnam army ideologies... then the answer is maybe.
