I'm not too bothered about B&B/soul. However, Radio 1's been playing tracks from Alisha Keys' new album... I've been blown away with her voice - she's amazing. Some of the tracks have got a real 'old soul' feel about them - it's difficult to place. On what I've heard, I'd consider getting the album.

I don't get it... the Who used to think of themselves as r'n'b... and they kinda were... so what has that got in common with the prepackaged watered down shite they call r'n'b today? it's cuz r'n'b stands for rubbish 'n' bad these days *rant* *shows age* etc.
Alicia Keys is the sexiest woman on the planet... and she's got a big round arse... this is important... u can really hear it in her voice... plus if u were ever marooned on a foodless desert island u know that butt would last u a few days... i pity the foo that would choose kate moss instead... could be the difference between life and death i say. ps. i don't know any r'n'b stuff |

Shani, I could tell you anything you want to know. Do you have a specific time period in mind? This is what R&B means to me, dating back to the 50s.
Here are some recommendations: 1. Donny Hathaway--Live, Donny Hathaway, or Greatest Hits 2. Marvin Gaye--What's Goin' On and Let's Get It On (both great LPs) 3. Aretha--Almost anything up to 1973, but especially Live At The Fillmore, I Never Loved A Man, Spirit In The Dark, Amazing Grace, Lady Soul 4. Sam Cooke 5. Howard Tate--Get It While You Can 6. Earth, Wind & Fire--Gratitude, That's The Way Of The World 7. Stevie Wonder 8. Bobby Blue Bland 9. Otis Redding 10. Ray Charles--Early stuff, especially Country and Western Hits 11. Sly & The Family Stone -- anything, but Fresh and Small Talk are very funky 12. Al Green 13. The Impressions--VERY important, get the box set Man, I could go on all night. If you want more contemporary stuff, I could really only recommend D'Angelo, Mary J. Blige (My Life), Erykah Badu (1st LP). I'm sure there's more, but there's way too much shiite not even worth listening to. And it depends on what mood you're in. I don't listen to any of this stuff anymore, but I have a huge collection and grew up with it. |

Right. Because when I think R&B I think Busta Rhymes. :-P "The repercussion is something you could never imagine would be going on Never believe in your eyes When my squad some through at an astronomically large size Moving the mountains Keeping all of my niggaz bouncing Big up my bitches in the place who be screaming and shouting I'm only here to present And bring the impact of the extinction level event Sing the song of salvation "

Ahhhh, greatest R&B singer is Luther. One must choose any album from his library to enjoy best R&B record.
