Important! News About Internet Radio
RadioParadise News:
(Sep 26, 2002) Important Congressional Development! A bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives that will provide a 6-month "stay of execution" on the CARP webcast royalties. This is a different piece of legislation from the Internet Radio Fairness Act - and may provide enough time for that or another legislative remedy to pass, or for a court challenge to succeed. The vote on this is on Oct 1 (next Tuesday). Time is too short for faxes. What we really need is for all concerned listeners to contact their local Representative by phone, ask for the aide handling Internet affairs, and urge them to support HR 5469. You might want to read Kurt Hanson's news item on the bill at www.kurthanson.com before you call. - js. (might as well send a fax anyway, i did. can't hurt. i called too. my rep hadn't even heard of the bill but he'll be voting for it tuesday). |

the vote scheduled for today has been postponed indefinitely sources say, to allow an agreement worked out between webcasters and the riaa. it's funny because i know some webcasters and no one has asked them to sit at any bargaining table.
