Grokster Icons?
Been offline for a couple of weeks and when I got back on Grokster, I noticed some different icons come up when searching.
I don't recall seeing the tan "exclamation mark" icon before, and when you click on it, it immediately comes up as "failed" in your traffic screen. Anyone know what this means? |

The G means it's been downloaded successfully before, the other symbol means it's still a virgin.
There's also an option not to show stuff behind a firewall that you can't get. I think it's Tools/Options/Filter |

Hmmm....interesting. Makes me wonder then how multiple users can have copies of the same "virgin" file....
yup, activating that firewall filter option eliminates the "virgin" files... so, if I'm looking for something really obscure, do I wanna know that it's out there but I can't get it or would I rather just not know at all? |

You can always try WinMX. Lots of choice albeit with long waits sometimes.

Normally when you download you are 'asking' the other user to send you the file from their side. If they are firewalled and can't send files, it can also be tried in the other direction. You make the connection, they send the file. |

If you can never download a file, I find that weird. I download files every day, tho I must admit that I get remotely-queued very often (read below about WinMX). You could also try disabling your firewall and try again... While talking about firewalls, if you're using ZoneAlarm, get rid of it. It's crap. Try Kerio Personal Firewall If people ask me what a good filesharing program is I mostly recommend audioGnome. Reason is that audioGnome maintains it's own serverlist, and (in my opinion), looks much nicer. Another reason would be that WinMX has a pretty grave remotely-queue bug. Apart from that, it's just bad for OpenNap servers. |
