Ipsos-Reid presented a sample of US music downloaders with possible music market scenarios from which they had to choose their preferred method of obtaining music, and found that when an online peer-to-peer (P2P) option was presented, nearly 50% cited it as the manner in which they would obtain music, followed by 19.2% who cited a pay-per- download method. When no P2P option was presented, 48.8% of respondents said they would turn to a retailer (traditional or online) for music, and 37.6% said they would choose a pay-per-download option.
