Photo Essay: Wounded GI’s - In Their Own Words
No point in regretting: somber remarks from those who won't be the same.
- js. ”[Back] in California, nobody really knows what soldiers are going through. They see on TV, oh yeah, two soldiers got wounded today and they think, “Yeah he’ll be alright”. But that soldier is scarred for life both physically and mentally. But they don’t understand. They see one soldier wounded and they’ll forget about it like as soon as they change the channel. Some people get brave and they’ll ask me “What happened to your hand?” And I say “I was in Iraq, got injured, lost my hand”, whatever. And they’re like, “The war’s still going on?” And I’m like, oh my God, are you fucking serious? What do you live in a fucking cave?” http://www.opendemocracy.net/debates...1-125-2387.jsp |

this stuff barely makes the news anymore, but the war drones on for no apparent reason. the American body count still averages about one per day, in spite of all the "progress" we have made in Iraq.

War
What is it good for Absolutely nothing War What is it good for Absolutely nothing War is something that I despise For it means destruction of innocent lives For it means tears in thousands of mothers' eyes When their sons go out to fight to give their lives War What is it good for Absolutely nothing Say it again War What is it good for Absolutely nothing War It's nothing but a heartbreaker War Friend only to the undertaker War is the enemy of all mankind The thought of war blows my mind Handed down from generation to generation Induction destruction Who wants to die (war - springsteen)
