Blubster 2.0 vis-a-vis Zone Alarm
Anybody had any experience along these lines? Yesterday, I tried several times to log onto Blubster, but no way would it connect (and this over a space of several hours, not a number of consecutive attempts). Remembering the incompatibility which existed between WinMX and ZoneAlarm, I closed ZoneAlarm and tried again to open Blubster, and, give the man a coconut, connected immediately. Coincidence? No, I'm disinclined to think so. I believe there's an anomalous relationship between the two progs, because re-opening Zone Alarm caused some sluggishness in responses to keystrokes in Blubby (similar to the same thing which used to happen with MX2.6). Oh, in case someone should ask, Win98se, Athlon 800MHz cpu, 640MB ram - should be enough!

Blubster and ZoneAlarm have had a stormy relationship from the beginning. Here's the advice they give on the Blubster site.
Configure Zone Alarm to allow Blubster Connection (for v1.2.3) Open Blubster > Config > Download (under "Firewall options") type 41170 > Finish Close Blubster and then restart it again Make sure ZoneAlarm is on medium settings. Submitted by Thylacine_ (for v2.0) Open ZoneAlarm > Program Control > Add Choose "Blubster.exe" (You have to go to the directory were you installed it) > Open Now right-click "Blubster servent main exectuable" > Options... (under Ports) check "Allow access to al Ports and Protocols" (for both versions) I don't think you need to change ZoneAlarm settings to medium just do the following: Open ZoneAlarm > Firewall > Internet Zone Security > Custom Allow incoming UDP ports: 41170 Allow outgoing UDP ports: 1-41170 |

Thanks, Napho! Incorporated those changes and Blubster logged on virtually instantaneously. Yet another one up to the good guys!
