Quake 4 becomes a huge p2p hit on Pirate Bay
Source: Piratbyrån
Quake 4, a long-awaited sequel for the popular computer action game, was officially released in Europe last Friday, and is likely to produce great official sales figures. However, at that point the game had already made p2p history by becoming the overwhelmingly most popular downloaded item on world's biggest BitTorrent tracker, the Swedish Pirate Bay. Almost half a million people had downloaded the game at the time of the official release, and during the weekend the download count climbed already over 700.000 with no signs of slowing down. The episodes of TV series Desperate Housewifes are also enjoying a great popularity on Pirate Bay. Thanks to the efficient BitTorrent distribution technology and Pirate Bay's high-capacity tracker service, thousands of international fans of the series are able to see the latest episodes as soon as they come out, without having to wait for months for their local TV stations to show them. |
