Hi I am george, the ftp guy
well I am here to answer any questions anybody might have on hunting for media on ftp servers.
Now that napster is gone, we are finding ourselves with less than perfect P2P applications, while some of these are great, they can't beat the efficiency of of getting a WHOLE album at once with a dirrect connection to the person you are trading with. I run a server my self with 30 gigs of music, it open and free to everyone to use I am also here to encourage those folks with large libraries of music, to open their own ftp servers to help share with the community. If anybody has any questions on how to use ftp, or start a server, send me a pm or reply in this thread I will kick it off by giving you info to access my server: user: napster pass: napster ip: 24.182.144.186 port: 922 also to all the musicians I ahve Sonic Foundry;s Acid 3.0 George |

Welcome George!
George has also offered to host some napsterites independent music, making it possible for us all to get acquainted - but of course George has not offered to become the Napsterites Musician Official Server. So let's go easy on him. As he suggests, a 'network' of support in this area could be a great tool for those of us who just want to share our music with one another, and an even greater boon to those of us, like myself, who are very interested in learning how to create our own ftp servers, and may be less than utterly brilliant and whose VCRs flash 12:00 all the time. I know at least several other Napsterites currently involved in this pursuit. (not with their VCRs but with the ftp thing.) Break out the big guns! Interdimensional party machine 101 baby! Woohoo! I just got back yesterday from a vacation in the Adirondack mountains of northeast New York state. I got a lot of sunburn on the lake. The weather was nice all of the days, and it got progressively warmer last week.
I've been trying to set up my own file library on the internet, but it hasn't worked so far. Verizon gives me 5 megabytes of space, which is very little as far as sharing mp3 files goes. Maybe I can use my Verizon homepage to link to my desktop? A direct link by way of my IP address failed in the past, but by all means give these links a try. The first two should work and are in my Verizon homepage, and the last is a link directly to my desktop. Let me know the results. http://members.bellatlantic.net/~vze2fwz4/ http://members.bellatlantic.net/~vze2fwz4/reznor.jpg http://169.254.101.44/ |
