Congratulations, Mr. President!
Globe and Mail:
CARACAS — Leftist President Hugo Chavez won re-election by a wide margin Sunday, giving him free reign for a more radical socialist shake-up of society and six more years to counter U.S. influence in Latin America and beyond. Challenger Manuel Rosales conceded defeat but vowed to remain in opposition, resisting a leader he accuses of edging Venezuela toward authoritarian rule. Minutes after the results were announced, Mr. Chavez appeared on the presidential palace's main balcony singing the national anthem. He pledged to deepen his effort to transform Venezuela into a more egalitarian society. “Long live the socialist revolution! Destiny has been written,” Mr. Chavez shouted to thousands of flag-waving supporters wearing red shirts and braving a pouring rain. “That new era has begun,” he declared with religious fervour, raising a hand in the air. “We have shown that Venezuela is red! ... No one should fear socialism ... Socialism is human. Socialism is love.” CITGO's Low Cost Heating Oil Program: CITGO Petroleum Corporation made its first delivery of discount heating oil of the 2006-2007 winter season in New York City on Nov. 17th. The CITGO-Venezuela Heating Oil Program is targeting more than 100 million gallons to more than 400,000 households in 16 states, more than doubling the commitment made last year. "We are more than just an oil company. We are neighbors and friends who care for those in need," said CITGO President and CEO Félix Rodríguez. "This is a people-to-people program that comes from the heart of Venezuela to the homes of American families who just can't pay their energy bills."

only slightly related:
Kevin Rudd has ousted Kim Beazley to seize the leadership of the Australian Labor Party. now we just need the Democrats in the US to get their act together to restore some sanity to modern corporate run democratic politics ... Things are turning against those arrogant conservatives right on schedule, I predict the flavor of world politics to change considerably over the next 10 years. Not even another false flag attack would save them now, their tightly woven wicked web will start unravel for all to see ,if such was the case. I guess I am just hoping there will be some harmony on the world stage..not that the terrorists will just go away. But and I guess that is a big but for a lot of people ,the left will handle it much better than those meatheads in power at the moment. Last edited by multi : 04-12-06 at 04:32 AM. |

"Venezuelans are bitterly divided over Chávez's ideology, but they can agree on one thing: Many will vote for him Sunday because the billions he has poured into literacy programs, free food, and doctor visits have proved a potent enticement." Just like Chicago, doesn't matter if you are corrupt... as long as the garbage gets picked up every week. Also: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/n...ationworld-hed "Chavez keeps lid on boom in murders Venezuelans see 67% rate jump since 1999"

What did thatdumb arse Churchhill say...
If you are not a bleeding heart liberal when you are young, you have no heart.
If you are not a tight ass conservative when you reach the age of reason, You really are a dumb shit who hasn't paid much attention to life (history). Sorry for the poor paraphrase, but a lot here seem to have either no brains or observational skills.

I could understand once in a while my posts getting lost in the shuffle or me screwing up and not clicking on the right button, but this is just happening way too too much lately and I'm getting pissed. It's not as if I'm a newbie and don't know how to post on a forum.
If u dillweeds can't be bothered to even notify me when whacking' my shit, I see no reason to continue to act in my usual civil manner. And don't give me any of that smilie crappola either.
