Kazaa was supposed to go pay a couple years ago as well as limiting bitrates and such. I'm surprised it has been going this long not being a subscription service. As for them being shut down, they probably will be based on past success the recording industry has had on filesharing services. The recording industry needs to lose some big decisions before these services can stay up without the threat of lawsuits.
