It seems that the time is right. They always have ridden on the US's coat tails and have usually always gotten the better part of the bargain. If The USA went away, their economy would shut down, refuges would would be trying to sneak into the US. I can see it now, desperate Quebecers swimming the St Laurence river. Instead of 'wetbacks' I figure we would call them 'popsicles'.

Which brings up why I think that should be the 52nd state and not the 51st. Mexico deserves the next statehood. After all they actually used to own a lot of the southwest and are in the process of moving back in. The US has been supporting them, as we have Canada for centuries. I figure Mexico would bring a positive vibe to the country. At least they are willing to work and have decent food.
