reg, you may also be operating as a supernode or whatever it is winmx calls thier group servers these days. if so that alone can use up most if not all of your u/l bandwidth, especially if you're asymetrical like most dsl & cable users. tg's excellent suggestion to limit u/l bandwith will stop your downloads from crawling (and general surfing too) but shutting off the supernode function will redistribute the remaining u/l bandwidth to the people you're sending files to - so they'll get a decent speed as well. i had to do that when winmx made the change i think about a year ago (uncheck primary connection?). the supernode function grabbed more than 1/2 of my bandwidth, leaving little if any for uploaders.
