I've expected this for years and am quite surprised it has not happened yet (which says a lot about my ability to foresee these things, i suppose. i never figured there would be a market for phone cards, either...).
it's an interesting scenario....on one hand, all it takes is a couple of well- publicized busts and prosecutions to send a chill thru the P2P community (the US p2p community, anyway).
on the other hand, this bust will most likely become an instant cause celebre...with lots of accompanying sympathy for said defendants and certainly bring antipathy for the industrial/entertainment complex into the mainstream.
it may be an issue the Justice Department is not anxious to bring to a head...publicly criminalizing 60 million otherwise law-abiding Americans, many of whom vote, would not be a smart move for any career-minded bureaucrat.
