The electronic voting machines are not ready for prime time. They caused so much trouble here in California that the State abandoned them and the punched cards for optical mark sense cards, which is an older technology.
No hanging chads, a paper based verifiable ballot cast, and much more difficult to tamper with.
The ballot is on two cards that are printed on both sides. You complete the broken arrow with a black or blue ballpoint pen to indicate your vote. Example:
