"Retroshare Instant Messenger is working on the implementation of Turtle Hopping. Turtle Hopping allows you sharing and downloading from friends of friends. You do not establish a direct connection to them, nor do you need to sign their trust (as you do not know them as trusted) - you just ask your trusted friends to download from them and they send you the wanted file.
More of a surprise is that this isn't the leading claim of the software, since it's the one that that limits darknets.
