Larry Craig shrugged that one off nicely. of course, he was smart enough not leave voice mails with his hookers, unlike this guy:
Quote:
The president of the National Association of Evangelicals, who has resigned amid allegations that he had sex with a former self-described male prostitute, has admitted to buying methamphetamines from the man, but denied that he had used the drug or had sex with the man.
uh-huh - bought the crank, but didn't do any...got the massage, but never actually got his weiner roasted. sure. good luck with that story

it does my black heart good to see A-team evangelicals go down hard, like the sinners they really are.

edit: five days before the election, this story invariably becomes yet another bit of political theater. arguably as irrelevant as the Kerry comments, but it has a potential to twist:
Quote:
Haggard temporarily stepped down as the senior pastor at a 14,000-member megachurch in Colorado Springs, and resigned as the president of the 30 million-member National Association of Evangelicals on Thursday after the allegations surfaced...

...Haggard may not be a household name, but he is a major figure in evangelicalism in the country, with a direct line to the White House.
Haggard's mega-church, and therefore many of his 14,000 congregation members sit in the midst of the Colorado 5th Congressional District, for which a tightly-contested election is five days from being decided. this stuff can't be good for wingnut Doug Lamborn in that race.
