Most of the 'immense' user base uses eMule, not the official eDonkey client, and rightly so. The serverless Overnet used to be a bit more interesting case, but whatever interest I had is now gone. No point donating your bandwidth on 'profitable market channels' of the AltNet kind - much better to give it to the good
eMule guys and their non-commercial Kademlia network.
