great story about that. havens was about to go on at woodstock when the stage manager told him to extend his set, the next band was running way behind. so...he launches into freedom/child and proceeds to start
making up lyrics. to this day he doesn't know what he sang. offhand i don't remember the exact phraseology (not that it matters much in this instance) but there's a line that sounds like "My brother's got a phone in his pajamas and he's making a call."
