AHH – so the agenda of the 110th's Congress first hundred hours; an issue of utmost importance for the health, safety and welfare of the American public…drum roll please!!!!! Wait for it………..The minimum wage!!!!!! Now anyone who votes against it must hate poor people and want their children to starve to death. Right? That is the spin is it not?? Politics are involved so one must not think logically about this, each state should have the same min wage, from Los Angeles, CA to Fargo, ND and on to the East coast. Cost of living is the same –no?… shouldn’t people in Fargo make the same as in New York?

In Canada, which is a socialist country, the government loves this idea and every time they raise the wage the un-employment rate goes up. The un-employment rate in the USA is around 4.5%, very good, in Canada it is about 7%. You raise the cost of during business owners will lay people off. What other choice do they have? Move to a smaller house, sell one of the cars, stop going on vacation or just get rid of someone. Our company at one time would hire students over the summer to do odd jobs. We no longer do this. You cannot raise the price of goods to compensate because that brings the demand down. Laying people off is the best option. People don’t get into business to lose money.

So the unemployment rate is 4.5% which really means everyone who wants to work is, plus the overall economies are doing great, maybe best ever, so thank you Congress for taking up an issue which may actually end up hurting America, not help it.
