Disarming the population has always been the first goal of oppressors.
How's your freedom to bear arms holding up multi? (No this isn't about intravenous drug use.)
How much of your earnings (if you had a job) would your government let you keep? Your government shears its sheep more than mine does-"bleat-bleat"-because the sheep here aren't as submissive as there.
Of course if you're a parasite living off the government dole your country is "better" but it's weaker because of people like you and because it parasitizes the productive people to support the non-productive people instead of using its resources to make itself stronger.
Sheep don't like freedom with it's dangers and uncertainies. They prefer a dominant government to herd them and keep them safe and fat and happy instead of facing the challenges of a life of independence and freedom.
So keep sucking on your bong and enjoy being safe and fat and happy.
