Default Katie Couric, Brian Williams, Charles Gibson & The News

I watched a couple of Katie Couric's news broadcasts this week and overall I liked what I saw. I use to split my evening news between Bob Schieffer and Brian Williams. I haven't watched ABC's evening news for years...

I like Schieffer he was an old fashioned hard newsman and I trusted him, still do...

I wasn't a big fan of Brian Williams for his strange Bill Clinton remark on MSNBC years ago. It was just after the Lewinsky scandal. Williams asked of Bill Clinton, "Will anyone ever look at this man and not think of this?" I could only think that every time Brian Williams looks at Bill Clinton, Williams must think of Clinton getting a blowjob. That is odd. When I look at Clinton I never think of Clinton getting a blowjob. However when I look at Brian Williams, I think of Brian Williams thinking about Clinton getting a blowjob and I don't like that thought. Sorry but Williams is one sick puppy. I would never had watched his news show if he hadn't gone on the Jon Stewart show just after becoming NBC's anchor. He was personable and somewhat humorous as Stewart talked about vaginas. It was enough for me to checkout his newscast, that and the fact that even though he often thinks about Clinton getting a blowjob at least a vagina can get a smile out of him. I liked his newscast even though I thought his face looks like a broken marionette puppet. The top half of his face is angled in one direction, the middle in another direction and the bottom half of his face in yet another direction. That said, I watch for the news not what a person looks like. His coverage of Hurricane Katrina was excellent, so regardless of what he thinks about when he looks at President Clinton or what his face looks like, his newscast is decent...

As for Katie Couric on the CBS Evening News, I like her and I like the newscast, although it comes real close to being fluff without actually becoming fluff. The story of a blind teen clicking his tongue as a directional device was fascinating. I thought it would be fluff but it wasn't. Even though I wrote, "I watch for the news not what a person looks like," I have to state that Katie Couric is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I can't say the same thing for Brian Williams or ABC's Charles Gibson. Never cared for Gibson, can't say why other than I have an urge to turn the channel whenever he is on screen and the urge wins out. I don't watch him and I don't plan on watching him. For me it makes no sense to watch Gibson or Williams when I can watch Katie Couric. Her newscast is good; I might as well watch the news from someone that looks good too. She is not some blonde bimbo, she is a veteran news journalist, the fact that she is an attractive woman is a plus...

Speaking of news, I saw the government reported yesterday that more baby boomers ages 50 to 59 had used illicit drugs in the past month. DOH! Sure the 50 somethings do more drugs, they were the same ones doing more in their twenties, thirties and forties they just got older, in 10 years the 60 somethings will be doing more illicit drugs too...

With the Iraq War, terror threats, bin Laden still at large, a weak economy and a President and Congress in denial of course they do more illicit drugs and it's cheaper than prescription drugs too...
