leaving aside the fact that this ruling has limited practical value, inasmuch as you can't prevent people from talking about DeCSS code, i.e, - distributing it via speech, even if the law allows them to shoot people in the head for doing so, any law that becomes disassociated from common custom - and does not enjoy popular support - is bound to fail, (unlike drug laws which enjoy huge popular support). leaders lead by following. it has always been so. if the people’s ip bus is pulling out of the terminal absent the law makers, and it is, the law makers will be breathlessly stepping all over each other and the media companies to clamber on to it.
it will just take that much longer and mean that many more lost jobs to countries with saner ip laws.
