This kind of stuff keeps me thinking about the future of entertainment and I doubt it will be very different from the past. I always thought the internet would make it possible to find the songs that weren't being aggressively promoted by the record companies even if they happen to be very good songs. But with people promoting p2p as a business tool I wonder if that fredom of entertainment will continue. The MPAA thought that home recorded movies would destroy the movie industry, but when was the last time you recorded a movie on TV anyway? Do you spend more money at the movie theater or at the video store? Would you be willing to pay $600 for a DVD recorder? Napster gave us a high level of freedom when it started out, and now the entertainment industry will do every thing they can to maintain that illusion of freedom as we start to pay for online entertainment.

Thanks for the article, Jack. It really got my mind going.
