I like Duane Allman's stuff. I understand that his licks are the leads in Layla (correct me if I'm wrong here). I am also very impressed by Derek Trucks' playing. Another mesmerising player for me with plenty of varied musical styles. His slide work is other worldy at times, particularly amazing for his age, 23.
For me, Hendrix is also up there. seemed to redefine the blues somehow. yeah, Red House.
