Default PeerGuardian PR13 New feature

I recently posted on the PeerGuardian forum with a suggestion for a new feature. I suggested that the connection log be expanded to include logging the port number of the attempted connection.

This feature would allow the connection log to be investigated for trends of certain IP addresses or IP ranges to attempt connections on common p2p ports. Then, these same IP addresses or IP ranges can be further investigated to see what else they are trying to look at. It would be easy to import the connection log data into a database or spreadsheet layout for analysis.

As it turns out, the feature was already planned and will be implemented in the next release (v1.99 PR13). This release is now in beta preview and can be downloaded.

If you elect to install 1.99 PR13 please be aware that it uses a different format configuration file, so do not install it over an existing earlier version of PeerGuardian. You should install v1.99 PR13 in a separate folder.

I will never spend a another dime on content that I can’t use the way I please. If I can’t copy it to my hard drive and play it using the devices I want, when and where I want, I won’t be buying it. Period. They can all take their DRM, broadcast flags, rootkits, and Compact Discs that aren’t really compact discs and shove them up their bottom-lines.
