Default yup.

This whole concept of redirecting network connections has just got to be illegal in North America and Europe from the get go.

* In the long distance telco markets it is called slamming.

* In the surface mail market it would be called tampering with the mails.

* At in international border it would be called smuggling.

Just imagine if the idiot software was redirecting your e-mail to a spy POP/ SMTP server and taking a peek inside before forwarding it. Worse, adding a advertisement. These marketing guys should be rounded up and forced to face the music. Even the government does not have such powers without a court order.

This is simply unacceptable that somebody is redirecting URL or e-mail pop addresses.

Can't IE or Netscape or Outlook or Eudora prevent this?
