to those who really listen to Bush, he's not saying anything except "stay the course", which is not a strategy. and since no one can even define the terms of ending the war in iraq except in meaningless sound-bite terms like "getting the job done", it's safe to say to say he doesn't have one. the reason the Prez can be optimistic is because he has already stated he is leaving the whole mess to the next president - he no longer feels it's his problem.

the prospects of pull-out are only hypothetical as long as we have a rubber stamp Congress. should that change in November, you may see an overdue discussion on whether the vote to authorize the invasion of Iraq also has the authority to require US troops to sit in the middle of a civil war and get shot at indefinitely.
