still trying indy

how would i get a sig from a file(..eg.mp3)
so i could make a start file for it
just 1 song on a HDD
a song i recorded myself say
i would have it in D:\Program Files\Morpheus\Morpheus\my Shared Folder
could i put it in a wave editor to get a raw data file
or can i do it in dos with somthing else?
sorry if i dont quite get that bit
but i reckon if i do i should work out the rest?
