Bad Mp3's cause more trouble than the disc's ever do; preview the music before writing it to a disc.
Even if you've got the super duper state of the art black box computer that NASA wishes they had, if you're running a bunch of applications you're going to get noise. In other words don't play quake while your burning a CD.
The slower you burn the better chance you've got of getting a good copy; just because both the drive and disc say 12x doesn't mean you'll get a good copy at the 12x setting.
These are from experience, you can't make a mistake that I haven't already made.
