although silly, this patent doesn't hurt us.. if anything, it hurts the companies that would want to do things like this. on top of not having enough server power to put low-quality files into the networks, these companies might start suing each other over patents if one of them becomes moderately successful.
while a bad indication for the U.S. patent system, i think that overall the granting of this patent would be a good thing - let 'em leave us alone, and sue each other to hell.
