I wouldn't be surpsied if the patent were granted. Awhile ago on Slashdot there was a post about patent having been granted to 'Sideways Swinging' on a children's swing. And that wasn't even an April Fools' joke! It seemed though that this concept had just been patented to prove the patent office grants nearly EVERY patent request, no matter how stupid.
