if this guy gets his patent the office has lost its' mind. distributing lo-fi copies of upcoming songs is as old as edison. (remember "flexi-discs"? no? how 'bout "am radio"?). it's called prior art. furthermore, you can make the case that mp3s are lower fi copies of cd tracks and that they've been used by the labels for cd promotion for years. again, prior art. finally, i don't know if these guys have used p2ps before but they're largely self-cleaning. when most people d/l a tune they do it because they want to "hear it" (i mean really mr. cheol-woong, wadja think?) as soon as they get it they play it. so when they listen and it's awful, (lo-fi, hissy, grungy, scratchy, MONO!) they keep searching 'till they get a good one. then the junky one gets the boot and the better gets swapped a bizillion times. end of story. furthermore, these guys are going up against millions of sharers, who're sending files back and forth around the net by the 100's of thousands. nobody's got the server power to swamp all the networks with bad files. good luck guys, but it's a mirage. the riaa won't be firing its' lobbyists any time soon.
