There's no need to nit pick and split hairs. You're not allowed to use company resources for non-businesss stuff. Period. Arguing the network begins at the interface or the switch or the router or the wall-jack will probably not be look on very favourably. This policy usually does not allow p2ps; hard to justify business use. If you need to clarify things like having mp3s on your machine I'm sure there is someone that can do that for you. Though usually, as long as you aren't firewalled too badly, a moderate amount of file sharing will go unnoticed, depending on the workplace.
