CNet News.com
is reporting that Morpheus 2, which will be released in "the next few days", will be "based on Gnutella". This information is apparently coming from an interview with StreamCast Chairman Steve Griffin. There had been rumours about this before, but this seems to confirm it.
The article also mentions a falling out between Streamcast and FastTrack. Interesting stuff.
Personally, I hope the FastTrack network dies. Closed-protocols suck for end-users. Still, Gnutella isn't nearly as scalable as FastTrack right now. I wonder if the Morpheus 2 implements some sort of tiering as a solution to this problem.
