Ramona_A_Stone

It is with great sadness that I pass along this awful news:

According to Apache Rose, his friend of 25 years, Ramona Stone died on March 23rd of a heart attack.

I have no further information at this time and so have invited Rose to post.

I had always considered Ramona - who moderated this forum - one of the best of the Napsterites and I'm deeply sorry for Apache's (and our) loss. My condolences go to his family and to his good friend TankGirl.

Jack

God that's terrible news js, my condolences to his friends and family.

Wishing you peace, love & joy wherever you are R_A_S.

I've got Aviophobia stuck in my head as I write this.

I'm going to miss our conversations, especially our debates, because I've never had an opponent who I respected more than Ramona. He could be totally serious without taking himself seriously at all, and that's a talent that exceeded even his musical ability, which was exceptional. I don't know what else to write except that this is a terrible shock. His last post is dated March 23rd.

Oh dear how very sad.
I know of someone from another board who is nearly gone.
Now this.
It's very hard to put into words how I feel.
We never meet these people, yet we consider them friends.
The world can be sad at times.

Well someone email Drakonix he can come back now.

And you old farts; an aspirin a day keeps heart attacks away.

Dawn 29-04-08 06:38 AM

Wow, this is shocking. I'm so sorry and am at a loss for words.

theknife 29-04-08 08:24 AM

very shocking - Shawn was one of the people who gave this board life and character.

whether you agreed or disagreed with him, he was one of a kind: passionate, opinionated, articulate, smart, kind, and funny as hell. he did not suffer fools gladly, and lord knows we've had more than a few those over the years.

i spent a lot of nights playing e-scrabble with him (before Hasbro killed it off  ), he's on my favorite users list at Soulseek, and he was, like myself, a rabid Peter Gabriel fan. i still have some of his music (Sidereal Drive, which can still be found here ) - i liked it well enough to keep it all these years.

all in all, one of my favorite Napsterites, and one of my favorite netizens in general.

i wish someone who knew him in the real world would come on and flesh out his life a little bit more for us - i wish, too late, that i knew more about the Shawn i didn't know.

Rest In Peace, Shawn :(

love & respect...

This has been on my mind for the past several days when I saw that Jack had posted this...

Hard for me to really come to terms with... because Shawn was one of the most brilliant minds I've ever had the good fortune and pleasure to come across.

Hope he will look out for us and continue to help us from time to time as he always has...

i wish you could have known him better

the remote viewing experiment changed my life

Thank you, sao

i'm too distraught/tired/drunk/lazy to do a search and pull up the experiment

but anyone that participated would recognize the connection RAS and I had...it was clear and quickened

i adore his musical work...few have had the opportunity to appreciate it on a global scale

about two years after the Remote Viewing Experiment, one lonely night, i decided to play scrabble online....played someone named "sao" (the only available player that night), and they kicked my ass, royally....(i thought i was pretty smart before that ;) )

then they/he/she asked if i was "norm" (my scrabble screename) from "napsterites"....wtf?

what were the odds? ....that connection again...it was RAS, small world or tight connect...one!?

seems i'm losing a lot of people that i connected with....the positive dreamers, hard working and encouraging folk have been leaving...they're in their own heaven now i suppose

or maybe they got tired of the negative, lazy, name calling fucks

RIP Shawn, I'll jam your tunes...bet on it!

:(

I loved his taste in music and how he loved music and how he knew more about music than me.
