Good article Thanks Knife:beer:
It's ridiculous to make people pay twenty dollars for a CD "It's funny how the music industry is enraged about the Internet and the way things are copied without being paid for. But you know why people steal the music? Because they can't afford the music. I'm not condoning downloading music for free. I don't think that's really fair, but I understand it. If you brought CD prices back down to $8.98, you would solve a lot of the industry's problems. You are already seeing it a little -- the White Stripes albums selling for $9.99. Everyone still makes a healthy profit; it might get the music business back on its feet." Tom Petty |
I enjoyed mr petty's (no pun intended) comments. but complaining about $150 concert tickets while throwing out that his tickets are $65.... I mean, does he think $65 is cheap?
The rolling stones are playing a few 1,000 seat venues for $1,000 a ticket. to me, that makes sense. a good way to fuck ticketmaster is to play multiple dates at smaller venues at higher prices and drop ticketmaster (and corporate sponsorships) out altogether. sure, it would be nice to play somewhere for $30... but then seeing your favorite performer becomes like a lottery. i mean, there IS only so many seats and only so often an artist can play. $$ should control that. but i loved all his other points. |
Same old story, no real solutions, not here anyway.
I was in a Virgin magastore today and picked up the last Blue Nile CD, turned it around and saw the price £14.99. I'm sorry Mr Branson but I aint paying that much for a CD when I can go online and find it for free, that's a lot of money to me (and most people). If you do it for a better price I might consider paying for it but for now you can forget it. Would'nt it be cool if you could go into a record store and haggle over the price, like you can do with other things. Just a thought. |
thanks for the article mr knife.....getting the cd as we speak:BL:
let's just say we won't be hearing the last dj during drive time anytime soon well you can't turn him into a company man you can't turn him into a whore and the boys upstairs just don't understand anymore well the top brass don't like him talking so much and he won't play what they say to play and he don't wanna change what don't need to change and there goes the last DJ who plays what he wants to play and says what he wants to say, hey hey hey and there goes your freedom of choice there goes the last human voice and there goes the last DJ well some folks say they gotta hang em so high cuz you just can't do what he did there's some things you just can't put in the minds of those kids as we celebrate mediocrity all the boys upstairs wanna see how much you'll pay for whatcha used to get for free and there goes the last DJ who plays what he wants to play and says what he wants to say, hey hey hey and there goes your freedom of choice there goes the last human voice and there goes the last DJ well he got him a station down in Mexico and sometimes it'll kinda come in and I'll bust a move and remember how it was back then... and there goes the last DJ who plays what he wants to play and says what he wants to say, hey hey hey and there goes your freedom of choice there goes the last human voice and there goes the last DJ |
KBCO in Boulder plays that song all the time. It's strange to hear such a song on a Clear Channel station, but KBCO has always been pretty independant and I'm glad it's there.
