advice needed - stable gnutella server

hey hey,

wondering if anyone that browses here runs a gnutella client serving 24/7 (like me). if so, i'd love some help.

i've so far tried bearshare and gnucleus. both are great in their own way; however both suck ass for 24/7 serving. i'm getting a crash a day from both of them. worse, the latest bearshare i have appears to have a memory leak (i'm sure it'll get fixed but it's a pain in my ass when stuff like this happens).

are there any stable gnutella network clients out there? i'll gladly trade user interface, even downloading features (which i can use gnucleus for) in exchange quite simply for a program that won't crash once a day.

(ps: i'm running win98se)

try xolox. no features at all. it's the most stipped down gnutella client i've ever seen (640k!). BUT, and this is a big one, it allows multi-sourced d/ls. as to long term stability i can't say much about that as i reboot every day anyway.

Don't have a clue because the link was sent to me about 40 minutes ago.... looks clean.

I haven't tried edonkey yet but XoloX seems to be stable. Haven't had it lock up on me. As js pointed out, it has multisourced d/l's. Worth a check.

Have you thought of running a hub on Direct Connect? It has 20,000 sharing as much as 600,000 on Morpheus. It's more personal and you can run it like your own kingdom.:)

xolox

I'm enjoying Xolox so far. Not bad on the memory, it seems (well, not as bad as BearShare).

Haven't tried edonkey yet simply because I think it's an entirely different network. Xolox seems cool though; thx for the tip.

Plus in bumming around on the forums I picked up MemTurbo, which should fix this regardless now. :)
