Bush Advisers Planned Iraq War

Quote:

Oct. 1, 2002, 17:00 PDT (FTW) -- The George W. Bush Administration's intentions of removing Saddam Hussein from power are not a recent development by any stretch of the imagination. Top White House officials affiliated with conservative think tanks and past administrations have been developing strategies for removing the Iraqi leader since the 1990s.

One such think tank, the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), published a report in September 2000 recommending policies for preserving and expanding U.S. dominance in world affairs, including an aggressive policy for deposing Saddam Hussein. Members of this group include Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, convicted Iran-Contra perjurer and current National Security Council (NSC) staffer Elliot Abrams, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz and I. Lewis Libby, Cheney's chief of staff and assistant for national security affairs.

Referring to the Persian Gulf region the report states, "Indeed, the United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein."

"The Project for the New American Century is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to a few fundamental propositions: that American leadership is good both for America and for the world; that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle; and that too few political leaders today are making the case for global leadership."

I feel that if this election ends like the one of 2000 that its VERY likely that there will be riots and such

WWIII is entirely possible in my lifetime (im 23) I dont know how old you are, but i would be more than willing to bet any sum of money that i will live to see it. I think for things to really change in the United States, 1 of 2 things has to happen.

1- Another US Civil War...not a civil war like we had before, but more of an uprising, a revolution of the people against the government to put the people back in control of this so called 'democracy'

2- US is on the losing end of the next world war. If that happens, the people of this country will be so furious that some type of MAJOR change in the government (not just government policy) will be impossible to stop.

But then who would feed the poor?

U think govmnt gives a poop?

The only reason for what little the gov 'programs' do is to justify their stinking jobs.

multi 26-10-04 11:43 PM

if anything remotely similar to this predicted economic collapse happens
welfare programmes will stop en masse
a large portion of the now middle class will become the poor
and the destitute will be revolting..;)

the gov needs to keep the economic cycle active in the low-end wage area..
welfare does a lot more than just waste public money on undeserving people
street drugs and welfare desensitize a huge part of the the otherwise unruly underclasses

theres much more to it than just that but its still a big part of the strategy of capitalist driven democracy..

i believe the rich are preparing an eventual colapse of the whole low-end of the economy with full support of the current govments
now they are very selective about wich parts of it
to leave alone and wich parts to kill off sell off
of course the corporations are allowed suck the lifeblood out of them first
steal from and exploit their workers and clients/customers

Know what you mean

Heard on the news, a week ago that since mad cow desease and since the US closed it's border to our beef, the price of a living cow dropped dramatically. In my province, a cow was worth 800$ a piece, now, they have to sell them for only 100$ a piece!!! What's even more amazing is that I still pay 4$ to 5$ for 2 little steaks at the market, and they are not filet minion

WTF is up with that? :sus:

Would be cheeper hiring a butcher and buy a cow for that price.
