Check your security!
:) This may be old hat for many of you, but, if you're concerned with internet security, and how effective your personal firewall may be, go to www.grc.com and check their "shieldsUP" test. I could be something of an eye opener. There are also other little freebies there, such as "shoot the messenger" - well worth checking out and installing, so I hope this is useful information for some of you. (btw It sure proves the effectiveness of the Kerio personal firewall).

;) And Hi to both of you lovely ladies. Goldie, you're mucho into music - have you dl'd any of Josh Groban yet? If not, he's worth it, imho. And Dawnie baby, altho you're not much of an mp3 collector, you could do your ears a worse service than listen to some of his songs. See y'all soon. :W:

all my ports pass except the one below...dunno how realistic a threat via this port is, but
this guy seems to think so. |
Well, knife, the guy seems to know his stuff when it comes to security, and after my experience earlier this year, I'm taking as few chances as possible. For what it's worth, I've put the (free) p'n'play gizmo on as well - why bother leaving just one port vulnerable for the sake of one tiny application? Keep 'em all out, that's my motto from here on in!

I remember running a similar test a while back, and I had the same vunerablility, so I also got the unplug and pray. Now I'm all sealed up and secure. :tu:
Petri, I will check out some of his tunes. |
Yup, saw it before, but it has been a while.
I have the Kerio personal firewall now, and when I ran the tests I passed all except the ping test. Fixed that problem. Thanke for the reminder. :) |
Cool device. :) I ran the port test and I passed w/flying colors.

I took the test and it's all good except the 113 port on my d-link router. I can't seem to make it stealth even though it shows up as closed. I have tried forwarding it to an internal ip outside my range (solution provided by the website) but still it shows up as closed port (not stealth).
If anyone has d-link router with a solution for this I would appreciate some advice. :BL: |

As for UPnP - it is an actual security problem - there is a simple program on grc to fix it. Easier than doing it manually. Microsoft UPnP NOTIFY Buffer Overflow Vulnerability http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/3723 |

Exactly what IP did you send it to? |
