The perfect place to host new p2p applications?
Just stumbled across this group of people, and wondered if anyone was looking for someone to host their file sharing application might be interested.
Since it is run from the self-styled Principality of Sealand 6 miles out in the North Sea, connected via satellite, it claims to offer the only true government-independent internet servers in the world. http://www.havenco.com/ What would the RIAA do, send a gunship? |
hey, sealand!
it always used to be something heard at least twenty times a day when napster first had legal troubles - 'well, they could always move to sealand.. or someone could set up an opennap server there'. for some reason, no opennap server or other p2p ever did set up shop there (i think it was possibly the high cost of using havenco's servers, combined with restrictively low bandwidth). however, as far as i know, the legal advantages of sealand weren't disproved at any point - although with decentralised networks ten-a-penny these days, the only really good reason i can think of for a sealand p2p would be to establish an audiogalaxy workalike. |

lol @ Jack :p
I haven't yet spoken to the "lady?", but I doubt she'd be interested in the advice of an opinionated African (ie. not American, not fed RIAA-brand cereal for breakfast) like myself! :D |
