don't get me started, floyd :to3:

multi 01-07-05 06:40 PM

interesting...so far removed from those 13 colonies that banded together and moved inland and occupied and terrorised the indigenous people almost to the point of extinction..(also happened where i live).

this is highly symbolic .....ofcourse to the conservative conformist shitheads it will mean nothing...but this replacing the 13 with 9
is important because the symbols and seals of the US are are constructed with very potent symbology...i wonder if they will sneak 9 arrows into the eagles claw..ect

could it have to do with the blue vs red states ?

albed 01-07-05 06:47 PM

Or could it be that the flags are partially behind the backdrop panels?

You frybrains are hopeless. :dis:

That appears to be the case. It looks llike they obscured part of the flags to get the army logos, flags, the podium, and the background behind the speaker to set in frame with proper perspectives.

The current flag has 7 red stripes and 6 white stripes, and 50 stars in a blue background. The pattern of stripes starts and ends in a red stripe, with interleaved white stripes. The stars are 9 rows staggered horizontally and 13 rows staggered vertically.

Edit: Actually, you can see ten stripes on the right side flag. A bit of white on the left edge.

The 13 stripes stand for the original 13 colonies
The 50 stars stand for the 50 contiguous states.

Here it is:

multi 01-07-05 08:46 PM

haha ofcourse they are, pedictictable as usual..
that doesnt change the fact that there is 9 stripes being displayed behind a presidential speech on 2 american flags

same as him standing at that podium with his hands behind his back with his fingers crossed

You guys think you're so smart, but you didn't even notice they also cropped out 22 stars as well.

Never cry wolf for it might actually happen ;)

On a side note, signed a petition for US citizen who seek refuge from the Iraq war to be welcome over here until the war is over :)

My great conspiracy theory is that, it's gonna be soon a second tea party for some us citizen and we will live again an exode of the loyalist, or the dems or the reps that just don't believe in this insane war. Don't mind it, just history will be repeating itself soon and I can't blame anyone who will run away from this.

How come you are not in Iraq right now? :PE:

Anyway, I still want a boomproof, a fireproof and a surviving proof building crashing on a passport paper as a passport right now, guess it was made of an outstanding paper eh?

How come no one will answer this question about this magical passport? Because, no one can deny this so far. Can you give me a good explanation on this or why it survived a fire & a crashing building???

Keep spinning :PE:

did you notice the design between the two actual flags?

they all have 9 stripes too.

malvachat 02-07-05 04:14 AM

How very interesting.
Some people are counting stars and stripes, instead of listening.
Or have we heard it all before?
Or we're you trying to fall asleep?
I thinks it's better than counting sheep.

My dearest miss silver, your question reminds be of a spitting image sketch.

When "TBW" was asked about unemployment in Britain under her leadership.
She answers "I don't answer trick questions"

Comes the reply "It's not a trick question"

Her reply,"Well it's far to tricky for me to answer"

For those of you too young to remember.

of greater significance to me was Bush actually quoting Osama Bin Laden, the architect of 9/11 & America's true arch-enemy, in order to justify the war in Iraq....reminding us all that he has declined to catch or even vigorously pursue Bin Laden for the sake a larger, deadlier, and pointless conflict in iraq...

the box score from the speech looked like this:

References to "September 11: 5 (relative to an unrelated war in iraq)

References to "weapons of mass destruction": 0 (coz there aren't any)

References to "freedom": 21 (a vague concept that allows anything while accomplishing nothing)

References to "exit strategy": 0 (because he either doesn't have one or doesn't want one - the latter is more likely)

References to "Saddam Hussein": 2 (he's caught - what else is new?)

References to "Osama Bin Laden": 2 (he's loose...and your CIA chief says he knows where he is - hello?)

References to "a mistake": 1 (setting a timetable for withdrawal) (no doubt all the other mistakes are too numerous too mention)

References to "mission": 11 (which mission are we talking about this week)

References to "mission accomplished": 0 (hard to accomplish when you can't define victory)

Well, I'll have to concede that the flags on the background have only nine stripes, and I did not notice that until it was pointed out.

Frankly, I had some difficulty trusting a source named "rumor mill" so I tried to look for a photograph at an alternate source. There is a small image showing an area of the background having the image of one complete "9 stripe flag" on whitehouse.gov at URL http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/relea...0050628-7.html .

Very interesting since the U.S. flag has never had only 9 stripes. Throughout history, there have been usually 13, but there was one version (May 1795 - April 1818) that had 15 stripes.

In my search for alternate photos of the speech, I ran across some taken by military photographers. Interestingly, the only photo I found of Bush at the podium taken by military photographers is taken from an angle as to not show the flags.

The picture below was taken from http://www4.army.mil/ocpa/read.php?story_id_key=7527

The U.S. President has the power to change the flag via an Executive Order.

And they're bordered by the same backdrop panels and have a washed out contrast.... a video display fed from cameras focused on the backdrop.
