Gnucleus 1.7 released

The new version of open source Gnutella client Gnucleus supports supernodes (or ultrapeers as they are called in Gnutella circles), and luckily the implementation is compatible with BearShare and LimeWire supernode implementation.

1.7 version features and bug fixes:

- SuperNodes implemented
- Processor usage configurable
- Dedicated mode optional
- Intelligent file indexing
- Scheduler, tell Gnucleus to connect only at certain times during the day
- All list boxes redone and enhanced to support dynamic sorting
- Changes made to avoid file name conflicts when downloading
- New routing mechanism, prevents local loops in network
- Multi-Processor support improved
- Added X-Try Header to help hosts connect to the network
- Pong-Caching system integrated, yet inactivated
- Stop button added to search window
- Locked the hash table to prevent multi-threading problems
- Better fallback method if IRC cache is unavailable

The Morpheus Preview Edition is really the previous version of Gnucleus with Music City's brand wrappers attached. If you want to access the Gnutella network much better to get the real thing. See also comments on InfoAnarchy.

I don't know what's the difference between morpheus preview edtion program and this one because they look the same but this program seems to work much better. I think I will keep this one for back up incase imorpheus 1.5.1 stops working.

So I guess this means that Morpheus 2.0 is going to come out soon then ;)

It's up to 1.74 now but doesn't seem to connect well and gone are the 10,000 results I used to get. It's been usurped by Bearshare and Limewire and maybe others too. Disappointing.

Giving it a try now; I'm excited by the supernodes. There's no files I really need right now so it's hard for me to comment on how useful it is at actually GETTING stuff. But running it has dropped my system resources from 80% to 50% which I think is too low for me to run it as a 24/7 server.
