Music that hits a note w/you?
Ok, lately I've been in a real f*cked up state of mind due to my family. To put it simple, my family is falling apart and I'm so confused and feeling helpless and distraught over it :BER: (give me a gun and I just might use it...on second thoughts, I'll pass on that offer). Anyway, I know this sounds cheesy but I recently heard the song by the Velvet Revolver called "Fall to Pieces" and I swear this song is speaking to me. It's as if this song came out at the right time...for me. I can't stop playing it as it's perfect for the current state that I'm finding myself in. Actually, it brings tears to me which I NEED to release!
So my question to y'all is this, I'm sure we've all had our ups and downs but has there been a song that you can relate to and or, that has helped you threw the bad times? |
The name of the band says it all. Its a real cheerer upper for me.
Moody Blues - Dr. Livingstone, I Presume also Moody Blues - Om |
Fortunately, my life is in a pretty stable place right now, but that hasn't always been the case. When I was deep into the struggles over custody/guardianship of my daughter, two songs in particular spoke to me:
Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff The Who - Behind Blue Eyes |
in mid-divorce, five or six years ago - Cast No Shadow, Oasis

There's been lots of songs......but two albums in particular:
Sinead O'Connor - I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got Sinead O'Connor - Faith and Courage :tu: p.s. emmy.....hang in there.....the bad shit passes ;) |
emmy ...you are too sweet and kind to have a nervous breakdown. Now you listen to your 'ole uncle Tom. When these things happen in life, you must just simply remember all the good things, and be stong and move on. I know, cause I've had some things happen in my life that resemble car wrecks. Nevertheless, I am the most stubborn guy you will ever meet. I quite simply refuse to die ...even if you beg me to ...lol.
ps: ...nice songs.:) |
dont know what it is but 'to sir with love' gets me every time..:)
|
oops forgot a couple:
tina arena - now I can dance karl jenkins - adiemus |
hey emmy, im sorry to hear youre going thru a rough patch..just remember.. this too shall pass.
at this very moment in my life, Linkin Park "breaking the habit" says something to me right now....trying to change my life and be more positive. |

Hello all! :W: I'm back after taking a much needed mental break...although things have NOT gotten better (only more hectic/complicated regarding my life - family, job, health...not good!). That said, I'm still highly stuck on Velvet Revolver "Fall to Pieces" but to offset the fall to pieces situation in my life, the song "Ooh Child" by Beth Orton (which is a remake of the Marvin Gay's classic) is really bringing me much comfort. Things can only get better and that song is making me realize this. Well, things HAVE TO get better! O'well, it's just amazing how songs can resemble your life and or, provide you comfort during trifling times.
P.S. thanks everyone for caring about me and sending me your kind wishes. It really means a lot to me. |
.
This is what does it for me.
"The red flag" "Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer, We'll keep the red flag flying here" When I think of all that it used to stand for. Dropped by Labour along with clause 4 I love the version by Aztec Camera. The people's flag is deepest red, It shrouded oft our martyred dead, And ere their limbs grew stiff and cold, Their hearts blood dyed its every fold. Then raise the scarlet standard high. (chorus) Within its shade we'll live and die, Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer, We'll keep the red flag flying here. Look round, the Frenchman loves its blaze, The sturdy German chants its praise, In Moscow's vaults its hymns are sung Chicago swells the surging throng. It waved above our infant might, When all ahead seemed dark as night; It witnessed many a deed and vow, We must not change its colour now. It well recalls the triumphs past, It gives the hope of peace at last; The banner bright, the symbol plain, Of human right and human gain. It suits today the weak and base, Whose minds are fixed on pelf and place To cringe before the rich man's frown, And haul the sacred emblem down. With heads uncovered swear we all To bear it onward till we fall; Come dungeons dark or gallows grim, This song shall be our parting hymn. Then raise the scarlet standard high. (chorus) Within its shade we'll live and die, Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer, We'll keep the red flag flying here. |
The Police - Hole In My Life
The Who - Love Reign O'er Me |

Today, after a month long state of confusion and agony and frustration, I saw the light at the messed up tunnel that I was forced to go down. I'm telling y'all, I'm on cloud NINE here and I'm so happy that I'm finally smiling, something that I haven't done much of (if any) this entire month. I'm really blown away that this song w/that course "ooh child, things are gonna get easier...ooh child things are gonna get brighter" actually did come true! Now I need to find more happy go lucky songs to keep up my great spirits! Anyone wanna recommend a few to me? ;) |
