New P2P Site Bows

earlier this month a brand new consumer oriented news, entertainment and p2p info site opened on the web. it's called P2PNet. it's got a young slant editorially with some clean, fresh noxema type graphics and it's about as far removed looks wise from teen boy-geek as is possible considering the subject. wanna work for 'em? they're looking for help. :ND:
http://www.p2pnet.net/

from the site:

"Hollywood is trying to turn the Internet into a hard-core online market where revenue rules and which its movie, record making and hardware segments will dominate. Ruthlessly. Among other spy and intrusion technologies, it's heavily promoting:

~'Broadcast Flag' to electronically penetrate your home systems, dictate what you play and/or view, and lift private and personal information on, and about, you and your habits; and,
~'Cop-chips' to be installed in devices that do analog to digital conversions - which is just about everything.

But Hollywood companies, advised by disingenuous fact realignment specialists Hilary 'Reach Out' Rosen (Recording Industry Association of America) and Jack 'Stomp 'em' Valenti (Motion Picture Association of America) are now so far behind the curve that to them, it looks like a straight line."

so true! :tu:

reporter/musician jon newton put a lot of effort into his site and it shows. i wish him great success!:AP:

Hmm there's another site that could use a few "workers" as well??:BL:

I like p2pnet it has a whole different approach to filesharing. It also has a rather nice chap running it :tu: Bound to be a success for those that like to analyze a somewhat "political" aspect to filesharing.

Its a good site. Bit tricky to navigate, but thats because the web master decided to skip the cheap java script menu effects that are all too common. The site does have a nice and unique design indeed.

Some good info and worth the read. Notice who the tech editor is?

Our own Nikki she has written some great stuff. :) Others are also welcome to help out it seems.

For a more daily stop, with out the conspiracy theories, I recommend news doses from Aweshucks.org

Weekly - p2pnet.net Daily - Aweshucks.org Its good to see allot of neat p2p and p2s2p sites getting up and going and providing a more full coverage on the net of things that go download.

just spoke to jon via email and he asked me to pass this along -

"Hi Jack:

p2pnet.net went online 22 days ago. It's going like the clappers but still needs help of all kinds, especially writers, p2p developers, web page builders and graphics enthusiasts.

On writers, we really need someone to keep an eye on the various sites for p2p news (see the news links on http://www.p2pnet.net) For that story, I just followed TankGirl's posting.

If that's the kind of thing you'd like to get into - or if you have any other ideas - please email p2pnet.net here: help@p2pnet.net

Cheers! And thanks ...

Jon"

so there you go, right from founder. stop by and have a look - spread your wealth, help out if you can. :)
