ya know, theres a lot of bass players that i think are great. but let me tell ya, wasnt till at the age of 16? i really started listening to Weather Report and it was at that time that i noticed the bass player with them was like no other. this man took the bass, and played it like a lead guitar, like a slide guitar, like anything and everything, with the deepest richest tones ive ever heard come outta a bass. so distinctive is his style, i can pick it out in any music i hear that he played in. Joni Mitchell for instance, he played on Mingus.
so for me there is not top 5, there is the one, and others can aspire. Jaco Pastorius rest in peace bro |
