has anyone tried ...
the latest version of MAD decoder with the clipping attenuation feature?? puuuuhhhh whaaaaweeeee it makes such a difference - i was actually quite surprised
highly recommended!! |
nope, but i will.........
|
ahhhhha ok :)
since most mp3s are clipped anyway i would really recommend it to others too if u haven't tried it yet. it takes care of some of the distortion very nicely while still maintaining accuracy and high fidelity |
Schmooky, where can I get the newest MAD Decoder? Is it in the latest version of Winamp (i.e. version 2.75)? Do you now recommend it over the Winamp 2.22 decoder for decoding to .wav prior to burning to CD? Or do you just recommend it for PLAYING mp3s? :)

u can get the latest mad plugin (0.13) for winamp below:
http://www.mars.org/home/rob/proj/mpeg/mad-plugin no doubt that because mad attenuates clipping there's less distortion. if the distortion levels are high enough the results would be very comparable from other decoders - i would go with either mad or the fhg decoder from winamp 2.22, but if you want to avoid clipping, use mad |
super cool! ...I will always listen to the advice of James Bond's sidekick schmooky007 ...lol :BL:
ps: seriously ...thanks again schoomky :) |
new frontend for the mad decoder:
until now the easiest way to use mad was to download the plugin for winamp and use it as an external decoder. now you can use mad through its own frontend. you can also tweak with the command line for optimal results http://home.wanadoo.nl/~w.speek/mad_frontend.htm |
