SPIEGEL INTERVIEW WITH US GENERAL DAVID PETRAEUS
"We Have to Raise our Sights Beyond the Range of an M-16"

In an interview with SPIEGEL, General David Petraeus, a former commander in Iraq who is now responsible for training United States Army troops, discusses the lessons of Baghdad, the reasons a war can't be won using weapons alone and why America's future warriors need a post-graduate education.

THE WORLD FROM BERLIN
The 'Ugliest Americans of All Time'

US President George W. Bush's Wednesday speech on Iraq was marketed as the announcement of a change in strategy. It wasn't -- and many critics both in the US and Germany are unhappy.

BUSH'S NEW IRAQ STRATEGY
"The Most Dangerous Foreign Policy Blunder Since Vietnam"

By Marc Pitzke

George W. Bush's last attempt to win the war in Iraq is meeting with strong resistance. His own party is criticizing him with brutal openness, calling his new ideas for Iraq a disaster. Bush is almost completely isolated -- like Richard Nixon during his final days in office.

BUSH'S IRAQ STRATEGY

I don't mind reading news from Europe, but that blog is all about opinion, and I don't have to read one word of it to know what it's going to say. Spiegel has about as much credibility as the Onion.
